It is recommended that learners have a minimum of 6 months experience within the Hydrology industry before entering this programme.
Summary
The purpose of this micro-credential is to provide the Primary Industry sector with individuals who hold the skills and knowledge to perform streamflow measurements in rivers and streams shallow enough to be waded.
This includes the application of appropriate measurement methodologies when carrying out measurement activities on site, use of measurement equipment, and data management (collecting, filing and reporting).
This is achieved by supporting learners with both on-job and off-job learning, allowing learning to be applied in a practical way, across a range of situations, within the learner's role in the workplace.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this micro-credential, learners will gain knowledge and skills and be able to apply them in the workplace. Learners will be able to:
- Carry out discharge measurement by wading, and record results.
- Derive and file discharge gauging results.
This micro-credential may support learners to engage in further study including the: New Zealand Diploma in Field Hydrology (Level 5).
